Alec Christopher Smith, 26, of Tampa, FL, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 11, 2019. Alec was a smart, engaging young man with a kind heart and a goofy sense of humor largely inherited from his dad. He was a huge Florida Gator football fan and looked forward to attending home games each season. Alec always had room for ice cream and time for "just one more" roller coaster ride. He loved flying and aspired to be a pilot. In his free time, Alec was an avid gamer and enjoyed playing World of Warcraft. At one point, he was ranked as one of the best players for his class in the world. Alec was a fan of the Star Wars universe and all things connected to the series. He watched all the movies and animated shows, played Star Wars games, and read the books/comics.
Alec also enjoyed spending summers with his family in Okoboji, IA. He could talk through the night about any and everything on the deck. He was an excellent maker and eater of s’mores, was always up for boat rides, nutty bars, and trips to Arnold’s Park.
He is so very loved and missed by his mom and dad, Lori and Chris Smith of Tampa, FL; sisters Emiily (Ricky) Mills of Tampa, FL, and Abbey Smith of Coon Rapids, MN; grandmother Karen Widestrom of Eagle Grove, IA, and grandparents Carla and Grady Smith of Seneca, South Carolina. Alec is also cherished, remembered, and loved by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other family members and friends.
Alec was preceded in death by his grandpa, Bill Widestrom, and his boxer dogs Gator and Buster.
Alec never met a dog he didn't like. Alec loved animals and animals loved Alec. For this reason and in lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to:
