Juan Carlos Garzaro, 60 years old, born on October 25th, 1959, and was called to heaven on the night of December 24, 2019.
Juan Carlos was very caring and athletic. He enjoyed working in the yard, working with tools, and repairing things. He was sociable and made friends easily, and shared interesting anecdotes especially of Spain. He loved his family.
He also loved animals from birds, to dogs, to most creatures. He would stop traffic to help an injured animal, or to help an animal cross the road. Once he took care of a baby mockingbird that he found in our yard and he rehabilitated it and released it. That bird came back for several years and would chirp at him.
He was multicultural and worldly, a unique person. He spent part of his life in Spain and part in Puerto Rico. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in P.R. in 1978. Then he went back to Spain were he did military service in Tenerife and then police training in Vitoria, Spain.
Moved back to Puerto Rico in December 1984 and started dating me Maria Josefina Prieto, then we got married in 1986 and our only son Juan Antonio was born in 1987.
He earned an Associate degree in Computer Programming and graduated with honors. We moved to Florida in 1990 and to Tampa in 1991. He worked in computer programming, also in the airport and in security and then as manager at my office. He always looked out for me and whenever I needed, he helped me. When we were younger, we traveled together when we could. Health issues in both him and me made things more difficult.
Even if he had back pain, he would push himself to do things. He had an indomitable will. If he would set his mind to something, he would do it. He was a good person and he would always have our backs.
He was also a collector and kept many things through the years.
He helped us, guarded us, looked out for us and protected us. We were always with our son, so it was like a tripod and now we are missing a part of our hearts.
He had a strong character and did as he thought no matter what anyone told him or suggested. He loved to eat sweets and no matter what anyone said, he would do things his way.
He was my rock and he protected the family and me. We were together through good and bad and felt safe with him. We will always love him and remember him. God gave me the gift of having Juan Carlos in my life.
A memorial service will be held starting at 2 P.M. on January 3, 2020 at MacDonald Funeral Home
