Antoinette “Toni” Bokor, a Tampa native and lifelong dancer, died Feb. 2, 2012, from stroke complications. She was 85. Predeceased by her husband Spencer (1995) and son Michael (2005), Toni had seven children, 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Toni started taking dance classes at age 5; as a teen in the 1940s she performed with a dance troupe at USO shows throughout Central Florida.  After auditioning in New York City for the Rockettes, she returned home and attended the University of Tampa in 1945-46 on a music scholarship. She met her future husband at UT; they wed in 1947.
Toni put her dance career aside to raise seven children. When the youngest was a teen, Toni went to work for the Tampa Recreation Department. While teaching preschool and after-school playground activities, she realized how much she missed dancing. In 1983 she formed the Dancing Fools, later renamed to Toni’s Tappers, whose members ranged in age from 59-74.
She also was a choir member and served in several ministries at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
Toni is survived by daughters Chris Rodriguez, Karen Manteiga (Juan) and Irene Bokor and sons Mark (Debby), Clark (Joanne) and Matt (María); 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Tuesday at St Paul Catholic Church, Tampa.
Interment will follow. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 PM at MacDonald Funeral Home, 10520 N. Florida Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations in Toni’s name may be sent to Redlands Christian Migrant Association, 402 W. Main St., Immokalee, FL 34142.

Dear Family of Toni:
Toni was in our CRHP Group in the l980''''s....and what a wonderful addition to the "Family" of women she was! She was always smiling and ready to help all of us. We got together several times after that, but most of the women have moved away since then. It was nice to see Toni in church or in the choir and she was always ready to say Hi and say prayers whenever needed. There are only 4 other members of our group left: Silvana Lowery, Rosemary Geary, Sandy Fisher and Sandy Hay....and they all send their condolences to our "sister, Toni". May God bless and heal all of you....and we know that Toni is in heaven....resting in God''''s peace.
In His Love,
Delores Moore

Toni was a great Recreation department friend. I still remember with fond affection Toni and her group of Toni''s Tappers at the Senior Games Talent Shows. She was great! I hadn''t seen her in quite a few years but have many memories of her and her work. Jody Wren, Tampa Parks and Recreation Dept.
