Frank Anthony Centofante, Jr., age 60, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Hospital North in Tampa, Florida. His passing was from a major heart attack he suffered Friday, December 28, 2018. He was born February 1, 1958 in Tampa, Florida to parents Judy Heisler and Frank Centofante (deceased). He leaves behind a wife, Kimberly; four children, Michelle, Christopher, Chad, Sarah; five siblings, Mark, Kristin, David, Stephen, Tony; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

Frank attended Leto High School and graduated from HCC’s Fire Academy in August 1978. He joined the Hillsborough County Fire Department in March 1979 (badge #94) and ultimately retired as a Captain 33 years later. Even though retired for several years, Frank was still a firefighter at the end of the day and would have helped anyone in need. Frankie was small in stature, but enormous in heart. He loved a good joke, Starbucks coffee, shopping at Publix, driving his Corvette, and going fast on his motorcycle. But mostly he loved life and those people in his. He will be missed by many and forgotten by none.

A Fireman's funeral to Celebrate Frank's life will take place at 11:30 AM Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Grace Family Church, 5101 Van Dyke Road, Lutz, FL 33558. Faily will visit with friends one hour prior to service. Hillsborough County Fire Honor Guard will present Honors to Retired Captain Frank Centofante, Jr.

The Fireman’s Prayer

When I am called to duty, God

whenever flames may rage,

Give me the strength to save some life

Whatever be its age.

Help me to embrace a little child

Before it’s too late,

Or some older person

from the horror of that fate.

Enable me to be alert

And hear the weakest shout,

And quickly and efficiently

to put the fire out.

I want to fill my calling

and give the best in me,

To guard my neighbor

And protect his property.

And if according to Your will

I have to lose my life,

Please bless with Your protecting hand

My children and my wife
