On Thursday October 1st, 2020, Mutual Leon Sims, also known as “Tennessee”, loving husband and father of six passed away at the age of 44. Leon was born September 26, 1976, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Diana Sims and Eugene Bohannon. He grew up in West Memphis, Arkansas, until he moved to Tampa, Florida, in the late 90’s early 2000’s.
He later met his wife, Rachel, who lived in Missouri, on Face Book on July 18th, of 2012. The two carried on a long distance relationship for two years, until Rachel moved to Tampa to be with Leon in 2014. The two of them were inseparable soulmates, and they were subsequently married on April 7th, of 2018, in the presence of God, family and close friends. Together they had six children, Marissa age 20, Meghan age 19, Kila age 17, Ma’Laya age 11, Jaden age 9, and their youngest Memphiz age 4, whom he loved dearly.
Leon was a hardworking owner of two auto-detailing businesses in the Tampa area. He loved his church Tampa First Church of Nazarene and the family and friends he developed there over the last year. He adored his family and highly valued spending time with them going fishing, visiting Florida’s theme parks, national parks, and beautiful beaches. His favorite family outing however was going to watch WWE Wrestling live when they came to the Tampa Area. Leon was kind, generous, honest, considerate, honest, loving and genuine, He was very loved and highly respected by all who knew him.
Leon was survived by his wife Rachel and their children, mother Diana, four sisters Nikki, Candace, Jovita, and Briana, two brothers Maurice and Mario, several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins, to include close relationships with Marcus, and his favorite cousin “Bright Eyes” as well as countless friends who were like family to Leon and Rachel.
Funeral Services are being held at Tampa First Church of Nazarene located at 5902 N. Himes Ave. in Tampa at 10:00 am with a reception after. Flowers, condolences, and donations may be sent to Tampa First Church of the Nazarene in memory of Mr. Mutual Leon Sims.
