And we know, all things He will work together for our good, to those who love God, to those called according to His purposes. – Romans 8:28
Stephen Ray Painter went peacefully home to heaven at 72 years of age on March 25, 2022, in Dunedin, FL. Stephen battled multiple illnesses for many years, never losing that twinkle in his eye, the smile on his lips, or the song in his heart.
Stephen was born April 17, 1949, in the country town of Dunbar, West Virginia. Cared for by his parents Robert and Ollie Painter. A wild child with fire and determination at every step, Stephen lived an exciting boyhood, and developed into manhood in his hometown. As a man, Stephen made a home in Tennessee and then settled in Florida with his wife of 17 years, Sharon Painter, in 2008. Stephen was father to sons Ian M. Painter, Chad Painter, Stephen M. Painter; daughter Stephanie Egger. He worked in home manufacturing as a broker and builder, working to help families find their forever homes before retiring in the sunshine state. Stephen loved the rhythm and soul of rock and roll, soaking up the Florida sun by the pool or ocean, and was a hard loving family man.
Stephen is survived by his wife Sharon Painter of Clearwater, Florida, sons Chad and Stephen M Painter of Houston Texas; daughter and son in law Stephanie and Aaron Egger of Dunedin, FL; granddaughters Sarah Rodriguez and husband Carlos Rodriguez, Lindsey Miller of Dunedin, FL, and Megan Koch and husband Christian Koch of New Port Richey, FL; and grandchildren William and Jonathan DiStaula, Nicole, Michelle, and Gabriel Rodriguez of Dunedin, FL. Stephen was predeceased by his parents Robert and Ollie Painter of Dunbar West Virginia and his son Ian M Painter of North Carolina.
In loving memory of Stephen Ray Painter, a dear husband, father, grandfather and friend. He touched many lives with his infectious smile and in sharing testimony of his faith in his Lord and Maker. He loved Jesus, life, and a little rock and roll. Stephen was a generous heart, always willing to walk the extra mile to meet someone’s needs. “You left this world, but never our hearts.”
Services will be held privately among immediate family and friends in celebration of his life, and now freedom.
